Taylor Swift announces engagement to Travis Kelce and shows off massive ring

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have announced their engagement on social media with a stunning shared post.

The proposal appeared to take place in a manicured garden, with an image snapped of the NFL star down on one knee while the pop icon held his face.

A number of images captured the moment, showing the couple in a gorgeously ethereal rose garden surrounded by flowers in romantic shades of pink and white.

‘Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨,’ the 35-year-old singer and 35-year-old American footballer captioned the joint post on social media.

The following images show Taylor’s huge diamond ring, which was set into a gold band.

The singer also shared the post on her Instagram story, using her song ‘So High School’ as the backing track for both posts.

Within 10 minutes of sharing the post, the couple had already gained over a million likes from adoring fans, with over three million likes after 25 minutes.

The carousel of images showed the couple hugging and cradling one another’s faces as they announced the major news.

Taylor and Travis captured the world’s attention with their unexpected love story after they started dating in September 2023, following the Kansas City Chiefs tight end’s attempt to give a friendship bracelet to the hitmaker.

Travis used his podcast to complain that he wasn’t allowed to give the singer his number on a bracelet during the Era’s Tour. Taylor’s team soon heard his cheeky complaint, and the rest, as they say, was history!

Soon after, Taylor became a fixture at Travis’ games, with fans spotting the singer cheering her boyfriend on regularly throughout the seasons.

Taylor’s fans – the Swifties – had actually speculated months ago that the singer was already married after they spotted a wedding invitation shared on social media addressed to ‘Taylor and Travis Kelce’.

Despite confusion from fans, this appeared to be the couple’s way of confirming they aren’t married yet – but they soon will be!

The news comes just days after Taylor announced that she would be releasing her 12th album, The Life of a Showgirl.

She announced the news while on her fiancé’s podcast, New Heights, with Travis and his brother, Jason Kelce.

While on the podcast, she also spoke about her then-boyfriend’s unorthodox way of getting in touch with her.

‘I was like, “If this guy’s not crazy, this is sort of what I’ve been writing songs about wanting to happen to me since I was a teenager.”‘

She joked: ‘This dude didn’t get a meet and greet, and he’s making it everyone’s problem.

‘That’s what I thought at first… You realise he didn’t even reach out to our management. He came with Pat [Mahomes], and he thought that because he knows the elevator lady, that he could talk to her about just getting down to my dressing room.’

She added that she immediately saw the romance in his actions.

‘It felt more like I was in an ’80s John Hughes movie, and he was standing outside of my window with a boombox saying, “I want to date you! Do you want to go on a date with me? I made you a friendship bracelet! Do you want to date me?”‘
