Taylor Swift has revealed that outer space is not on her bucket list anytime soon – and her reaction was priceless.

During an interview on BBC Radio 2 with Scott Mills, the superstar singer-songwriter completely panicked when asked if she’d ever follow in Katy Perry’s footsteps and take a trip in a rocket ship.

‘Never!’ Swift exclaimed instantly, visibly recoiling at the thought: ‘Why would I do that? There’s no reason to do that. I don’t want to do that, ever. I never… oh my God, no!’

The 35-year-old went on to explain that her fear isn’t just about rockets – it’s everything that comes with space travel.

‘It’s cold, it’s scary, I don’t know if I can come back down,’ she said, adding that even if she did go, ‘no one would believe it anyway.’

Laughing off her dramatic reaction, the 14-time Grammy winner admitted, ‘Thank you for asking! I don’t know why I completely freaked out; it was like I thought you were going to make me go.’

Swift’s response came after fellow pop legend Mariah Carey was asked the same question earlier this year and replied in her usual iconic way: ‘I’ve done enough.’

The topic came up following the much-discussed Blue Origin space mission in June, which saw Katy Perry join Gayle King and Lauren Sánchez on an all-female flight that lasted around 11 minutes.

The trip made headlines with mixed thoughts surrounding the whirlwind space trip.

Although Perry described the experience as ‘incredible’ and said she wanted to ‘model courage and worthiness and fearlessness,’ the spaceflight was slammed by critics for its environmental impact and astronomical cost.

Many called the event ‘tone deaf’ and ‘embarrassing,’ particularly after Perry dropped to her knees and kissed the ground upon landing – a moment that quickly went viral.

Perry later reflected that the journey was ‘second only to being a mom,’ calling it one of the most profound experiences of her life.

Despite Swift’s strong stance against space travel, her comments weren’t aimed at Perry.

The two singers famously reconciled years ago after one of the most public feuds in pop music.

The former rivals first clashed in the mid-2010s after an alleged fallout over backup dancers.

The tension reached its peak when Swift released her 2015 hit Bad Blood, which she later admitted was about another female artist she considered a ‘straight-up enemy.’

In a 2014 interview with Rolling Stone, Swift explained: ‘For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not.

‘She would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away, and I would think, “Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?”

‘Then she did something so horrible – she tried to sabotage an entire arena tour by hiring people out from under me.’

Katy appeared to respond at the time with a cryptic tweet: ‘Watch out for the Regina George in sheep’s clothing,’  referencing the villain from Mean Girls.

A few years later, Perry released her own comeback song, Swish Swish, which was widely interpreted as a response to Bad Blood.

However, by 2018, the feud had come to an end.

Perry extended an olive branch – literally – to Swift, sending her a handwritten note that read, ‘Hey old friend, I’ve been reflecting on our miscommunications and hurt feelings between us.’

The gesture marked the start of their reconciliation, and the pair are now on good terms.

These days, both women are thriving in their own lanes.

Perry has released new albums and appears on TV, while Swift has been breaking records with her chart-topping albums and massive Eras Tour.

Her latest release, The Life of a Showgirl, dropped last week and is already being hailed as another major success.

Taylor’s new album became the most-streamed in a day on Spotify in 2025 within 11 hours of its release.
