Ukraine’s Military Intelligence Chief Hints at a Possible Ceasefire by 2025.

Kyrylo Budanov, the head of Ukraine’s GUR military intelligence agency, has expressed optimism that a ceasefire in the ongoing conflict with Russia may be achievable this year.

“I believe it is likely to occur. Most of the necessary elements are in place for it to happen,” Budanov stated during a YouTube interview with journalist Eynulla Fatullayev.

He did not provide specific details. Many Ukrainian officials are skeptical about the prospect of a ceasefire, cautioning that it could merely allow Russia the opportunity to regroup and prepare for additional hostilities.

“The duration and effectiveness of such a ceasefire remain uncertain,” Budanov noted.

The conversation surrounding a potential ceasefire has gained momentum following Donald Trump’s return to the White House for a second term, during which he has promised a swift resolution to the conflict.

Recent diplomatic efforts regarding Ukraine, initiated by a call between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, have raised concerns in Kyiv and across Europe.

There is apprehension that the two leaders might reach a rapid agreement that overlooks European security concerns, potentially rewarding Moscow for its aggression and enabling Putin to continue threatening Ukraine and other nations in the future.
