The Taraba State government hopes to leverage the park’s resources to stimulate economic growth in the region. The partnership with ANI is intended to align with the Taraba State Development Plan, which focuses on infrastructure development, job creation, and improved services for local communities.
Gashaka Gumti National Park is one of Nigeria’s largest national parks, encompassing a diverse range of habitats and wildlife. However, the park faces challenges related to poaching, deforestation, and encroachment from human settlements.
The collaboration between ANI and the Taraba State government represents an effort to balance conservation with economic development. The success of this initiative will depend on addressing the challenges facing the park and ensuring that local communities benefit from its sustainable management. Whether this partnership can truly transform Taraba into a hub of both economic activity and ecological preservation remains to be seen.
