U.S. Imposes Visa Restrictions on Indian Travel Agencies Facilitating Illegal Migration

The U.S. State Department announced on Monday that it is imposing visa restrictions on owners and staff of India-based travel agencies accused of knowingly facilitating illegal migration to the United States.

According to State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce, an unspecified number of unnamed individuals associated with travel agencies in India will face visa bans under the Immigration and Nationality Act. The decision is based on information gathered by the U.S. mission in India.

Washington frequently issues visa bans without publicly disclosing the names of those affected.

“We will continue to take steps to impose visa restrictions against owners, executives, and senior officials of travel agencies to cut off alien smuggling networks,” Bruce said, without providing specific details on how the travel agents facilitated illegal migration.

This action aligns with President Donald Trump’s broader crackdown on migration to the United States and efforts to deport undocumented immigrants currently residing in the country.

The U.S. embassy in New Delhi has consistently used its social media platforms to warn Indian nationals visiting the United States against overstaying their authorized period of stay, cautioning that doing so will result in deportation and a permanent ban from entering the country.
