When it comes to baked goods, Greggs dominates high streets up and down the UK – but there’s one other place Brits love to get their pastries from.
Lidl, which was just crowned the UK’s cheapest supermarket, has garnered somewhat of a cult following for its in-store bakeries.
The budget retailer’s croissants are regularly touted as being ‘the best’ and shoppers regularly run to their nearest store to snap up new items like the Birthday Cake Bun and retro school cake.
So we don’t doubt that Lidl’s latest sweet treats will prove just as popular, as three new products have just been added to the bakery line-up, including a Cookies and Cream Doughnut, a Tiramisu Loaf Cake and a Pain Suisse.
Lidl shared a look at the new selection on TikTok saying: ‘New bakery special guests.’ The video went on to reveal that the Pain Suisse is priced at 79p, while the Tiramisu Loaf is 99p and the doughnut is £1.49.
In the comments, people couldn’t get enough of one item in particular, with @szmiha writing: ‘I love the doughnuts, can you keep them forever please.’
Similarly, @tillyoakleyy replied: ‘Omg the Cookies and Cream Doughnut. That will be my funeral.’
And @milwin764 posted: ‘Lidl, I need that Cookies and Cream Doughnut right now.’
While @w3irdfishes.inrainb0ws thought the doughnut looked ‘divine’.

Others were keen to try the pain suisse, while a few claimed the Lidl bakery section had them in a ‘chokehold’.
Over on Facebook, reactions to the new items have been just as strong, with Barbara Wears commenting: ‘That donut is lovely but very sweet.’
Likewise, Pete Radford thought: ‘The doughnuts are incredible.’ And Joanne Blackburn said it was ‘gorgeous’.
Heidi Briddon added: ‘Absolutely loved the Tiramisu Loaf and the Cookies and Cream Doughnut.’
It’s not clear how long these new products will be available in the bakery for, so you’ll want to try them while you can.
This comes after Lidl recently announced it would be giving away free bakery items throughout August.
The offer, which started on July 31, sees members able to take part in the Lidl Bakery Spin via the Lidl Plus app.
All you need to do is buy an item in-store, and scan your app when paying. You’ll then have one week to tap and spin the wheel to see which tasty freebie you’ve bagged, which is, arguably, a piece of cake.
Better still, there are 21 freshly baked goods up for grabs, including croissants, cookies, pizza slices, doughnuts and muffins.
