Mikel Arteta suggested that Arsenal are still looking to do more transfer business before the window closes.

The Gunners wrapped up their pre-season preparations on Saturday with a routine 3-0 win over Athletic Club at the Emirates.

Big-money signing Viktor Gyokeres opened his account for Arsenal when he headed home a cross from fellow summer recruit Martin Zubimendi.

Noni Madueke also offered a bright cameo off the bench in his second appearance since joining from Chelsea earlier in the window.

The north London side have brought in six players – spending almost £200million in the process – but Arteta refused to rule out the possibility of more signings in the coming weeks.

‘Let’s see what happens, in terms of where the squad is in the next few weeks,’ Arteta said post-match.

‘But, we are actively looking at options.

‘As well, there are a few players that, maybe, they have to leave as well. So, we will be open to see what happens.’

Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi who has a £68m release clause in his contract which expires at the start of the Premier League season.

After a summer of heavy spending, Arsenal may have to sanction departures to raise the cash necessary to prise Eze away from Selhurst Park.

And Ray Parlour believes his former side could let go of Gabriel Martinelli or Leandro Trossard to make room for Eze.

‘Asked whether one of Trossard or Martinelli would be an acceptable sacrifice for Eze, former Arsenal midfielder Parlour told Sports Mole: ‘Yes, I think so.

‘Eze is a very impressive player; hugely talented and creative, he can score goals too.

‘He has excelled at Palace, he’s now in the England set-up and he looks like an Arsenal player,’ the three-time Premier League winner added.

‘He is exciting to watch, got a good head on his shoulders and would excite the crowd with the way he glides with the ball.

‘I think he would be a great addition to the squad, for sure.’
