A missile strike by Russian forces targeted an industrial site in Sumy, a city in northeastern Ukraine, on Monday, resulting in damage to a residential area and a hospital, with at least 28 individuals reported injured, according to a local official.
Among the injured were at least four children, as stated by acting mayor Artem Kobzar via the Telegram messaging platform. The specific industrial facility that was hit has not been disclosed.
“The enemy has carried out a missile attack on the city center, causing damage to several high-rise buildings and a school. Children were taking shelter at the time,” reported Volodymyr Artiukh, the governor of the Sumy region, in a video shared on Telegram from the scene.

In the background, heavy black smoke and flames were visible, along with a vehicle that had its windows shattered. Smoke was also seen billowing from the upper floors of a nearby five-story residential building.
Located approximately 30 kilometers (18.6 miles) from the Russian border, Sumy and its surrounding areas frequently experience drone and missile assaults from Russia.
