If you’re a fan of Benefit’s classic POREfessional Primer then have we got good news for you: the brand has now released a new foundation, and it’s said to leave your skin looking totally flawless.

That’s right, Benefit’s new The POREfessional Smoothing & Blurring Foundation is officially here, and if you’re in the market for a product that smooths texture, blurs pores and leaves the skin looking flawless then you’re going to want to get your hands on it.

If anyone knows flawless, poreless skin, it’s Benefit. So, when we saw the beauty brand had just released a new skin-perfecting foundation we simply had to give it a whirl.

Delivering a medium-buildable, weightless coverage and a seamless natural-matte finish that stays fresh all day, the POREfessional foundation works to smooth and blur the skin in seconds – and won’t clog pores while it’s at it.

Better still, thanks to its 50/50 skincare/makeup formulation, it doesn’t just give you a stunning finish straight away, but also works to visibly smooth texture, blur pores and improve the look of skin over time.

Now this is a hybrid product we can get on-board with…

Formulated with a whole host of skin-loving ingredients, such as Rose Hip Extract and Glycerin, the foundation has been specifically designed to refine the look of pores and smooth skin while retaining skin moisture for constant hydration – despite the natural-matte finish.

But the star of the show is Niacinamide, which, as a form of Vitamin B3, helps to smooth the look of pores and skin texture while contributing to skin hydration every time you apply.

And truly, the proof is in the pudding.

Waterproof, smudge-proof, transfer-proof and fade-proof, the POREfessional Smoothing & Blurring Foundation has already racked up impressive consumer results, showing to deliver 24 hours of long wear and 24 hours of hydration.

The shade range covers 40 warm, neutral and cool shades, so there’s likely to be a shade to match you. My shade turned out to be 2N Mighty.

Better still, in a self-evaluation by 116 participants after one week, 96% said it visibly smoothed texture instantly, and in a self-evaluation by 116 participants after four weeks, 97% said bare skin is smoother over time.

What did I think of the new Benefit foundation?

I was lucky to have been colour matched by Benefit’s National Brow and Beauty Authority, Lauren Hogsden, who found my perfect match with ease – 2N Mighty. The shade range covers 40 warm, neutral and cool shades, so there’s likely to be a shade to match you, too.

I’m used to lightweight tinted moisturisers and dewy, low coverage foundations, so I was nervous by the idea of this medium-buildable, natural-matte finish.

Needless to say, this foundation blew my preconceptions out of the water.

I went in sparingly, applying a pump of the foundation to my face with the Benefit Makeup Blender Sponge and pressing it into even my pore-centric areas. I was shocked by the result.

This foundation instantly smoothed out my skin, layering effortlessly over areas of texture, old acne scars and, most importantly, the visible pores of my nose and cheeks (Picture: Lydia Wheatley)

This foundation instantly smoothed out my skin, layering effortlessly over areas of texture, old acne scars and, most importantly, the visible pores of my nose and cheeks. My complexion was left looking flawless and blurred without any of the flatness I worry about with matte products.

Dark spots were covered, redness was covered, under eyes were covered… Who knew that a matte foundation could leave me looking quite so healthy?

My skin really did look hydrated and healthy, and, after layering beautifully with my other makeup products, continued looking flawless all day long – through a rain storm, full day at in the air-conned office and four-hour train ride to Cornwall.

What can I say? This one is truly a new favourite in my collection – and I’m not the only one. While new, the Benefit POREfessional Foundation, the brand’s most note-worthy foray into foundation yet, has already received hundreds of rave reviews.

‘The Foundation is a total game changer! It gives me flawless coverage without feeling heavy or cakey, and it truly lives up to its name – my pores practically disappear.’ (Picture: Benefit)

The POREfessional Foundation is a total game changer!’ raved one impressed reviewer. ‘It gives me flawless coverage without feeling heavy or cakey, and it truly lives up to its name – my pores practically disappear.

‘It blends seamlessly and leaves a smooth, natural-looking finish that lasts all day. I also love how lightweight and breathable it feels, even during long wear.’

Another added: I’m actually so in love with this new foundation, I’ve never tried a foundation like it. It blurs my pores and keeps my skin from breaking out (which I can’t say about many foundations), it has a nice sheen to it but is also matte which as an oily girly I love.’

What’s not to like? This is a hype we recommend you jump on.
