Emmerdale’s Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) doesn’t know how to make his life easy, does he?
No, he likes to make it as difficult as possible – finally getting back with his ex and love of his life but doesn’t tell him he has a secret husband hanging on.
Robert’s entire motive has been to win Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) back; he originally arrived back in the village to gate-crash Aaron’s wedding to declare his love. Though he got a snog from the groom, it didn’t work, and Aaron ultimately ended up marrying John.
Robert then poured all his energy into proving John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) is a bad guy, and not the guy for Aaron.
So now that John’s true identity of murderer has been uncovered and Aaron is once again single, Robert should be jumping for joy. Except his prison hubby Kev (Christopher Coghill) suddenly showed up on his doorstep on day release and derailed Robert’s whole Aaron plan.

Kev did tell him he’s dying though, which was a bonus for Robert as it meant not only would he be free of him relatively soon, he’d get a windfall in inheritance too.
So obviously he can’t tell Aaron and spoil everything just yet, despite Victoria’s (Isabel Hodgins) protestations.
Robert’s partly keeping schtum as he’s clearly afraid of thug Kev and what he’s capable of.
When Aaron tells Robert he’s finally moving back into the flat and he wants Robert to stay the night, Robert jumps at the chance. Time alone with Aaron is the goal.
But Vic is there to remind him that he needs to tell Aaron about Kev. Robert disagrees and heads off for a night at Aaron’s, believing he can get away with this charade.
But as things start ramping up between him and Aaron, bully-boy Kev interrupts with a call.

Bobby-quick-fingers cancels the call before Aaron can see, but it’s clear Kev isn’t letting go.
Kev is actually calling with some pretty hefty news, some that Robert might want to listen to.
Perhaps he’s not dying after all, aka Robert’s problem isn’t going to go away? Yikes.
