Passengers face delays at Birmingham Airport after a small plane made an emergency landing.
The UK’s seventh busiest airport issued a warning to passengers after an incident on the tarmac this afternoon.
Birmingham Airport said the runway is ‘temporarily closed’ following an ‘aircraft incident.’
One person suffered minor injuries after a light aircraft made an emergency landing on the tarmac, the police said.
The airport said in a statement: ‘Following an aircraft incident, the runway is temporarily closed.

‘We apologise for the inconvenience this will cause.
‘We will keep passengers already at the airport informed and those due to travel later today are advised to check the status of their flight before coming to the airport.
‘We will continue to issue updates when we can.’
West Midlands Police said: ‘We are at Birmingham Airport this afternoon after a small aircraft was involved in an emergency landing at around 1.40pm.
‘Officers are among the emergency crews at the scene and one person has been reported to have minor injuries.
‘The Civil Aviation Authority has been informed and the airport has suspended operations as an investigation is carried out.’
Footage appears to show a small aircraft on the runway along with emergency crews.
A passenger, who is on his way to Turkey with his family, said he saw the emergency crews around the plane.
He told Metro: ‘Now we have been told to come back to the gate at 6pm.’
The dad is travelling with his young children, so being ‘stuck in the airport for 6 hours’ is ‘frustrating.’
‘Not a great start to the holiday,’ he added.
Several flights have been diverted to alternative airports, it is understood.
One passenger said her plane had been diverted to East Midlands Airport after the closure.
Wizz Air, Ryanair, easyJet, Aer Lingus and British Airways operate flights from Birmingham Airport.
It is also the base for Jet2.com and TUI Airways.
Birmingham Airport saw 12 million passengers last year, which is up 11% on the previous year.
