A British tourist is in a ‘very serious’ condition in hospital after smashing his head on the bottom of a pool at his hotel in Ibiza.
The 23-year-old was admitted to an intensive care unit with skull and spinal injuries following the incident yesterday afternoon.
It’s understood the victim fell or dived head-first into the pool.
He remains in intensive care at the private Nuestra Senora del Rosario Polyclinic.
A spokesperson said the medical diagnosis includes a cervical spinal cord injury, head trauma and a fracture of the sixth vertebra.
They added: ‘Yesterday afternoon, a 23-year-old British man was injured after diving headfirst into a swimming pool at a hotel in the town of San Antonio.
‘We do not have detailed information about the exact circumstances surrounding the accident.
‘The young man was taken to the Nuestra Senora del Rosario Polyclinic, where he underwent surgery by the neurosurgery team. He is currently in the Intensive Care Unit.’
It is the latest in a string of incidents to hit Ibiza this summer.

Promising hockey player Gary Kelly, a 19-year-old from Dundee, plunged to his death off a hotel balcony in Ibiza Rocks in San Antonio.
Ibiza Rocks suspended its events after he became the third British tourist to die there this year.
