Coronation Street viewers have seen Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne) and Brody Michaelis (Ryan Mulvey) fall out in recent scenes over their mutual affection for Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) – but who, if anyone, will Betsy choose?
Viewers will know that Betsy’s first love was Mason Radcliffe (Luca Toolan), though it all ended in tragedy when Mason was stabbed to death during a fight with his brothers.
The episode was an emotional watch and was hailed by fans, eventually landing Corrie the award for Best Storyline at the Inside Soap Awards 2025, which is where I caught up with Liam and Luca to chat about it.
Luca was open about the pressure he felt being at the centre of such an important episode, and credited his castmates with helping him through it.
‘I had a support network around me, I had Sally [Carman], I had Vicky [Myers], I had Liam, I had Sydney [Martin], everyone. Together it was like we all pointed towards making the best episode.
‘So I felt the nerves but at the same time I had this army behind me so it just lifted me up, really. Without sounding as corny as possible, like “Corrie is amazing,” it literally is. They genuinely lifted me up.’

‘We’ve got to give a shout out to Jordan Hogg, the director of that episode took so much off everyone and was perfect,’ Liam added.
Since Mason’s death, Betsy has moved on, and has shared romantic interactions with both Brody and Dylan.
This has already caused a rift between the lads as they both vied for her affections, and it seems as though that is set to continue.
‘There’s going to be loads of drama. The relationship between Dylan and Brody, and Dylan and Betsy, that’s going to be a bit of a triangle that everyone’s liking,’ Liam teased.
However, he insists he doesn’t know whether it will be Brody or Dylan who will eventually win Betsy’s heart.

‘Whether Dylan and Betsy will get together I don’t know. Me and Syd work really well off screen.’
When I spoke to Sydney Martin and Ryan Mulvey about the same topic, they were equally as cryptic about what the future may hold.
‘If the spark lights, it lights and if it doesn’t, it doesn’t. So we’ll see what happens,’ Ryan teased.
‘It’s a nice little fiery chemistry,’ Sydney added.
Away from the love triangle, Brody has led Dylan somewhat astray since they first met in the STC, after Dylan was sent down for his involvement in Mason’s death.

Now that they are both neighbours on the cobbles, Dylan and Brody have found themselves wrapped up in Carl Webster’s (Jonathan Howard) car scam – though Dylan has done his utmost to try and get out of it.
‘He’s easily led isn’t he?’ Liam said, clearly exasperated. ‘I feel like grabbing hold of him and going “Get hold of yourself.”‘
It’s been a dramatic few years for Dylan, as Liam reflected.
‘It’s been five and a half years since I started playing him again and it’s gone so quick. Me and my twin brother Connor played him as a baby, and coming back has just been such a ride. Developing this character has been such a pleasure.’
