Aside from the Big Mac and McNuggets, there’s one thing we all love at McDonald’s – a Happy Meal.

They might be children’s meals, but even adults go wild over the iconic red boxes, which contain a limited-edition toy, or book.

But now those who love a Wendy’s can also get in on the fun, as the US fast food chain has launched its own version in the UK, ahead of Halloween.

The chain, which has previously been hailed as ‘better than McDonald’s’, is now selling Frosty Frights Kids’ Meals here, which cost just £3.99 each and feature a children’s meal and a free toy to collect.

The Frosty Frights toys are all inspired by Wendy’s legendary Frosty, which is like a milkshake, but thicker and creamer.

There are six different spook-tacular toys to collect, including The Yummy, Purrma Frost, Captain Coldsnap and Chilly Gilly.

Online fans have already shared their excitement over the new toys, with @steelcityhunger saying: ‘Oh my goodness these are cuteeeee.’

While @familylifewiththesmiths commented: ‘My kids would love this.’ And @youngtoddster added: ‘I know where I’m going this week.’

However, these aren’t the only new items on the menu this month, there are also three other very exciting additions.

Customers can now get their hands on a new burger that Wendy’s has claimed is a ‘game-changer’, and is known as the Grilled Cheese Cheeseburger.

The ‘revolutionary’ burger features a quarter pound of beef topped with caramelised onions, creamy mayo and a melted cheese slice, all nestled between two grilled cheese sandwiches that serve as the buns.

Chicken tenders are also joining the menu, available in three or five pieces and served with a range of sauces such as Buttermilk Ranch, Honey BBQ or Sweet Chilli.

And finally the chain has put an Autumnal spin on the iconic Frosty by introducing a Biscoff Frosty. This comes in either Vanilla or Chocolate flavour and is then topped with a Biscoff sauce and crunchy Biscoff crumb.

Michael Clarke, Wendy’s managing director for Europe, says: ‘This is one of our most exciting UK menu launches yet.

‘We’re serving up something for every craving – from the Biscoff Frosty to our new Chicken Tenders, and the ultimate comfort food mashup: our Grilled Cheese Cheeseburger.

‘These new items are bold, craveable, and unmistakably Wendy’s. We can’t wait to see how our fans react when they get that first taste!’

Wendy’s has been a staple of American fast food since November 1969 when Dave Thomas opened his very first restaurant in Columbus, Ohio.

The burger giant is well known for its unique square-shaped beef patties, and the iconic Frosty dessert and the chain has been cropping up all over the UK since making a triumphant return in 2021.

There are currently 45 branches across the UK, in areas such as Camden, Colchester, Brighton, Guildford, Peterborough, Oxford, Hull, Sheffield and York.

And the chain is continuing to expand nationwide, having recently opened its first West Midlands restaurant in Solihull in September and plans for three new restaurants in Plymouth, Nottingham and Basildon later this year.

The new Plymouth restaurant will be the first Wendy’s in Southwest England and it’ll be located in Drake Circus Shopping Centre.

Michael Clarke adds: ‘The UK represents a dynamic and strategic growth market for Wendy’s, and we are proud of the progress we have made to bring our signature menu to more consumers across the country.

‘Our expansion is fuelled by strong demand for high-quality, freshly prepared food and exceptional hospitality. With a robust pipeline of new restaurants, we are firmly focused on establishing Wendy’s as a leading player in the UK quick-service restaurant sector.’
