Emmerdale’s Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) has gone off the rails since learning that John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) killed his son Nate (Jurell Carter).
Understandable – finding out that the local have-a-go hero secretly drugged and killed his son before dumping him in a lake to decompose is a bit of a wounder.
But a screwed-up Cain is like holding a firework and lighting a fuse – his self-destruct button has been known to have catastrophic consequences.
Case in point – his first order of business was to kill John with a shotgun during an ambush organised by Caleb (William Ash). Caleb had tricked John into the back of a haulage van under the pretence of helping him escape the country but led him to a remote location to face an armed Cain.
However, this tricky situation was not John’s first rodeo and not only did he manage to talk his way out of it, John managed to get Caleb to knock Cain out AND agree to give him a lift over the border to France anyway. Manipulative genius.

Cain awoke from his head injury with fire in his eyes and murder in his heart, grabbing his shotgun and making plans to chase after John to France.
Moira’s (Natalie J Robb) having a tough time without Cain, fearful of what he’s up to, so she’s relieved when Cain finally returns.
But he arrives home with more baggage than he left with – he’s in full self-sabotage mode involving a bucket load of booze and no straight answers when Moira asks about John. Is his coyness a giveaway of something bad?

Moira tries to remind him that he’s a family man and needs to step up – and reminds him of the fact it’s Zak’s anniversary coming up, but Cain can’t hear any of it.
Belle (Eden Taylor Draper) and Sam (James Hooton) are crushed when Cain fails to show at their dad’s grave.
But is Cain harbouring a deep secret of what’s now happened to John?
