General Laka Advocates for Regional Cooperation to Counter Youth Radicalization in West Africa

Recognizing the transnational nature of the threat, General Adamu Garba Laka, National Coordinator of Nigeria’s National Counter-Terrorism Centre (NCTC), is urging stronger regional cooperation among West African nations to address youth radicalization. He emphasized the need for shared strategies and coordinated efforts to prevent the spread of extremist ideologies and protect vulnerable youth populations.

General Laka pointed to the importance of initiatives like the Accra Initiative in fostering cross-border collaboration and information sharing. He stressed that a unified approach is crucial to effectively combat the evolving tactics of terrorist groups targeting vulnerable youth in the region.
