German Far-right Groups are Opposing Budget Proposals from the Previous Parliament.

The far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) has submitted urgent legal challenges to the constitutional court regarding proposals to reconvene the outgoing parliament to discuss a half-trillion-euro spending initiative, according to a court spokesperson on Monday.

The appeals, filed by multiple opposition lawmakers from the AfD, aim to block the session scheduled for Thursday, during which the Bundestag is set to deliberate on constitutional amendments that would facilitate a significant increase in spending for defense and infrastructure.

The court representative indicated that the appeals are under review but could not provide a timeline for when a decision might be reached.
