The German government intends to allocate an extra 3 billion euros ($3.3 billion) in military assistance to Ukraine. Finance Minister Joerg Kukies has communicated this decision to the budgetary committee of parliament, as indicated in a draft document from his ministry reviewed by Reuters.
This development is regarded as a significant advancement, following the previous resistance from outgoing Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who had demanded a relaxation of borrowing regulations as a condition for the additional support.
On Tuesday, parliament approved a major reform of fiscal regulations.
