Mexico announced on Saturday that it is temporarily halting imports of poultry products from Brazil. This decision follows Brazil’s confirmation of its first-ever outbreak of avian influenza (bird flu) on a commercial poultry farm.
According to a statement from Mexico’s Agriculture Ministry, the import suspension encompasses chicken meat, fertile eggs, live birds, and other poultry products originating from Brazil. The measure is being implemented as a precautionary step to safeguard Mexico’s domestic poultry industry.
