Nicole Kidman made a graceful return to the public eye this weekend, stepping out for the first time since news broke of her split from husband Keith Urban.
The Oscar-winning actress appeared at the amfAR Gala in Dallas on Saturday, where she presented Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan with the Award of Inspiration.
Dressed in a sleek black off-the-shoulder gown, Kidman delivered a speech that centered on compassion and collective responsibility, seemingly unshaken by personal drama in her life.
‘I think what Taylor recognizes, as we all do, is that we are all more alike than we are different, and that we’re better when we look out for each other,’ she said.
‘That, of course, is why we’re here tonight. What better way to support, to elevate our common humanity, than to help fund bold and innovative research.’
The Babygirl star, who recently worked with Sheridan on the Paramount+ series Special Ops: Lioness, was focused on the evening’s mission: raising vital funds for HIV/AIDS research.
The black-tie event, hosted at the home of United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby, also drew Diana Ross, Teri Hatcher, and Dirk Nowitzki among its notable guests.
Saturday’s appearance marked Kidman’s first public outing since reports surfaced that she had filed for divorce from Urban after 18 years of marriage.
According to People, the pair have been living apart since early summer.
Kidman and Urban first met in January 2005 at the G’Day USA gala in Los Angeles, a celebration of Australians in Hollywood.
By June 2006, the couple had married in a candlelit ceremony overlooking Sydney Harbour. Just months later, Urban entered rehab for alcohol addiction, with Kidman steadfastly by his side. Both would later describe that early challenge as a defining test of their bond.
Over nearly two decades together, they built a life across Nashville and Sydney, welcoming their daughters and navigating the demands of fame and family.
While the announcement of their split has shocked fans, Kidman’s appearance in Dallas signalled that she is handling the news with her trademark grace.
