LAGOS, Nigeria – The Noella Foundation, a Nigerian non-profit organization, launched its “Pencils to Possibilities Drive” on April 9, 2025, distributing essential school supplies to primary school students in the Oshodi, Isolo, and Mushin areas of Lagos State. The initiative provided school kits for students and offered appreciation gifts, including food and teaching materials like whiteboards, to teachers in the targeted communities.
The Noella Foundation, led by Executive Director Layal Tinubu, states its mission is to improve access to education and address other social challenges in Nigeria. Tinubu holds degrees from SOAS, University of London, and the University of Surrey.
The “Pencils to Possibilities Drive” is one of several initiatives undertaken by the Noella Foundation, which also focuses on enhancing employability skills, improving healthcare access, and combating hunger in vulnerable communities.

Access to quality education remains a significant challenge in Nigeria, particularly for children from low-income families. While initiatives like the “Pencils to Possibilities Drive” can provide immediate relief, long-term solutions will likely require sustained investment in the education system and broader efforts to address socio-economic inequalities. The Noella Foundation’s work highlights the role of private philanthropy in supplementing government efforts to improve social welfare in Nigeria.
