Nigerian State Seeks Foreign Investment with Upcoming Summit

JALINGO, Nigeria – The government of Taraba State, located in northeastern Nigeria, has announced plans to host an International Investors Summit in May 2025. The summit is part of a broader strategy to attract both foreign and local investment and promote sustainable economic development within the state.

Governor Agbu Kefas has stated his administration’s commitment to creating a business-friendly environment and showcasing Taraba’s resources to potential investors. The state government hopes to highlight opportunities in sectors such as agriculture, tourism, and infrastructure.

In preparation for the summit, Taraba recently hosted Gautier Mignot, the European Union (EU) Ambassador to Nigeria and West Africa. The visit was intended to strengthen ties with international partners and promote investment in the state.

Ambassador Mignot praised Taraba’s natural resources and acknowledged the existing relationship between the EU and the state, including past collaborations on sustainable development projects. He specifically highlighted Gumti National Park as a valuable asset, emphasizing the need to improve its security and infrastructure to attract eco-tourism and conservation projects.

The Taraba State government is seeking partnerships with investors from around the world and hopes the 2025 summit will provide a platform for business leaders, policymakers, and financial institutions to explore potential ventures.

Taraba State, like many regions in Nigeria, faces challenges related to infrastructure development, security, and economic diversification. The success of the International Investors Summit and the state’s broader investment strategy will depend on addressing these challenges and creating a stable and attractive environment for foreign investment.
