Oliver Glasner has responded to being linked with a move away from Crystal Palace, specifically to Manchester United, and did not exactly shut down rumours.

The Austrian is doing a fabulous job as Eagles boss, leading them to FA Cup glory last season and starting this campaign by lifting the Community Shield.

Palace show no sign of slowing down as they beat Liverpool again on Saturday in the Premier League, just as they did at Wembley in the season’s curtain-raiser.

Thanks to that victory at Selhurst Park Glasner’s side have finished the weekend third in the league table, the only side yet to lose in the top flight so far this season.

Unsurprisingly, the 51-year-old is attracting attention thanks to the eye-catching results he has achieved with the Eagles.

Manchester United are producing eye-catching results of their own, but not in a good way, with Ruben Amorim under increasing pressure as he continues to struggle badly in charge of the Red Devils.

Glasner has been touted as a replacement for the beleaguered Portuguese, not only because he is doing so well, but also because he is playing the same system that Amorim is using, but doing so far more successfully and impressively.

Glasner was asked by Kicker if he was aware of the rumours linking him with other jobs and how he feels about them.

‘I follow all the rumours – and that’s all there is – neutrally and completely relaxed,’ said the Crystal Palace boss.

‘Focusing on the daily work with my players and coaches, and trying to enjoy it as much as possible.’

The former Eintracht Frankfurt manager did not give a great deal away with that answer, but it was also not a firm statement that he intends to stay at Selhurst Park for the foreseeable future.

Glasner is only under contract with Crystal Palace until next summer, although the club will surely want to extend that deal if they can.

Palace are back in action in the UEFA Conference League on Thursday against Dynamo Kyiv, before going to Everton in the Premier League on Sunday.

Although it is still very early in the season, the Eagles are flying high in the Champions League places, but Glasner is playing down any lofty expectations just yet.

‘We’re not worried about the final standings at the moment,’ he said. ‘I’m very down-to-earth and don’t forget that last season we had the worst Premier League start in Palace’s history, which ended with a record points haul.’

A 3-1 defeat at Brentford on Saturday has left Manchester United 14th in the table, with seven points from six games.

Their two league victories have come via a stoppage time penalty against Burnley and in a dramatic 2-1 win over Chelsea, who had their goalkeeper sent off after five minutes.

Amorim told the BBC of his future after the latest loss to the Bees: ‘I am always comfortable with the job.

‘I am not concerned. It is not my decision. I will do the best I can every minute I am here. I am never concerned about my job, I am not that kind of guy.’
