Poland Consider Reallocating EU Funds for Defense.

Poland is set to reassess its Recovery and Resilience Plan to allocate funds towards enhancing defense and economic stability, as stated by Polish Funds Minister Katarzyna Pelczynska-Nalecz on Tuesday.

The minister previously indicated that EU funds should be redirected from the EU recovery facility to bolster security measures. This facility offers Poland nearly 60 billion euros ($63.1 billion) in grants and low-interest loans.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk later mentioned that Pelczynska-Nalecz informed him of her efforts to release up to 30 billion zlotys ($7.6 billion) for the purpose of reallocating these resources to “broadly understood defense and defense industry.”

Tusk emphasized the necessity for urgent and comprehensive collaboration among other ministries as the government convenes. He also noted the need to expedite the development of legislation concerning public investments in defense, with the possibility of the bill being approved by the government as early as next week.
