Thai Woman Delivers Baby Girl During Earthquake Turmoil.

In the midst of the chaos caused by Friday’s earthquake, a Thai woman delivered a baby girl on a moving bed in a hospital that was in the process of being evacuated.

The 7.7 magnitude earthquake, which originated in Myanmar, shook buildings as far away as Bangkok, prompting the evacuation of patients to the ground floor and outside for their safety.

Kanthong Saenmuangshin, 36, had arrived at the hospital for a routine check-up but went into labor as the tremors began.

Her waters broke while she was being guided by medical personnel from the Police General Hospital down five flights of stairs, and she feared she might give birth on the stairs.

“I was telling my baby, don’t come out yet,” Kanthong recounted on Saturday.

Once she was placed on a hospital bed, surrounded by numerous medical staff, she unexpectedly gave birth. “It was all a shock to me too,” she shared with Reuters.

At that moment, her husband was at work and unable to reach the hospital in time for the delivery.

Relief washed over her when her daughter was finally born. The shaking had ceased, and the sight of her newborn filled Kanthong with joy.

She and her husband have chosen the nickname “Mink” for their baby. While they have yet to decide on an official full name, they are determined not to choose any names associated with the earthquake.
