Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler) and Jimmy’s (Nick Miles) 25-year marriage is about to be tested as the bickering duo move into an even smaller space in Emmerdale with fresh conflict on the horizon.

They can barely go a day without Nicola showing disdain for something Jimmy has done, so an error on his part will see the rage rise in Nicola as their family displaced, and a war with the Tates is triggered.

The couple has faced a fair few trials in the last couple of years, with Jimmy’s golden boy nephew Tom King (James Chase) turning out to be a violent abuser, and with their daughter Angel ending up in a juvenile detention centre for manslaughter.

The latest trial saw Nicola coming face to face with Bernice (Samantha Giles), the sister who broke her trust and her heart, but in a turn of events no one saw coming, Nicola ultimately softened and forgave her.

But is she in a forgiving mood when Jimmy accidentally floods the house? That would be a no. Jimmy’s error renders the house uninhabitable, and the Kings are forced to troop over to Laurel’s (Charlotte Bellamy) to beg for somewhere to stay.

That’s a lot of people under one roof and Jimmy immediately does what he does best – he runs away. He heads off to stay in the pirate ship leaving Nicola to navigate their temporary living arrangements alone.

With it comes unexpected concerns. Carl catches the eye of Clemmie and it looks like something is blossoming between these two youngsters. This is Nicola’s worst nightmare – her son getting it on with a Tate.

She is having absolutely none of it and immediately draws the battle lines with the Tates.

Adding fuel to Nicola’s Tate hatred fire, Carl and Lucas end up in a fight at school.

Having a no-Tates-around-her-kids policy, Nicola brings the fight home from the school playground.

But it’s not just a minor disagreement, things escalate beyond what even Nicola would expect.

Not long later, the police arrive in the village as the war takes a turn.
