US President Donald Trump has named conservative commentator Dan Bongino as the deputy director of the FBI. In a social media announcement, Trump described Bongino as “a man of incredible love and passion for our Country,” indicating that he will work alongside the newly confirmed FBI Director Kash Patel.
At 50 years old, Bongino has experience with the New York Police Department and the Secret Service, having served on the protection detail for both President George W. Bush and President Barack Obama. He also hosts a popular podcast that frequently garners more engagement on Facebook than the combined posts of Fox News and CNN.

Thank you, Mr. President, Attorney General Bondi, and Director Patel,” Bongino expressed on X following Trump’s announcement. Trump stated in his social media message on Sunday that Bongino is “willing and prepared to give up” his podcast “to serve.” “Fairness, Justice, Law and Order will be restored in America, and swiftly,” Trump remarked. He praised Bongino, asserting he would perform an “incredible job” at the FBI.
Bongino, who has made three attempts to run for Congress, previously hosted Trump on his daily podcast, The Dan Bongino Show, prior to last year’s election. Recent episodes of his show feature titles like “Trump Keeps Delivering And The Libs Are Seething” and “The Only People Who Love Crime Are Criminals!!!” Reflecting on his career as a prominent conservative commentator, Bongino stated in 2018, “My life is all about owning the libs now.” Known for his combative style, he frequently responds to Trump’s critics on X, including a prolonged feud with horror novelist Stephen King.
Last week, Bongino’s new FBI chief, Patel, was narrowly confirmed by the Senate to lead the law enforcement agency he has often criticized. Democrats have cautioned that he might seek retribution against Trump’s adversaries, although the former prosecutor has denied any intentions of pursuing political vendettas and has committed to “rebuilding” the bureau.
