Abuja, Nigeria – Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, has voiced strong optimism about the country’s future under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership, asserting that the President’s bold vision and pragmatic leadership will soon transform Nigeria into a better and more vibrant nation.
Speaking while receiving a delegation from Big Win Philanthropy, led by its CEO, Jamie Cooper, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, the Vice President emphasized that the Tinubu administration’s significant investments in healthcare, education, and other key sectors are already laying the foundation for meaningful and sustainable development.
Shettima projected a vibrant and improved Nigerian society in the coming years, highlighting investments in healthcare and education as game-changers. He stated that with education, even the son of a pauper can rise to become a celebrated icon within a generation.
Welcoming Big Win Philanthropy’s commitment to partnering with Nigeria, Shettima noted that their extensive experience aligns seamlessly with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He also highlighted the Nutrition 774 Initiative, a grassroots program aimed at institutionalizing nutrition at the local government level, as a flagship multisector project capable of reversing the country’s negative health indicators.
Shettima emphasized the importance of strategic collaborations over handouts, referencing Nigeria’s engagements at the World Economic Forum (WEF), where he advocated for win-win partnerships that unlock the country’s vast potential. He noted that Nigeria is not a nation of scarcity but one defined by potential, with its greatest wealth lying in its young, dynamic, and determined people. He expressed his belief in the calibre of leadership, starting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whom he described as supremely competent and highly intelligent.
Jamie Cooper acknowledged the Vice President’s leadership in nutrition and combating stunting, stressing the need for more collaboration with Nigerian stakeholders. She stated that they are working with various ministers to create over two million jobs in Nigeria, address malnutrition, and push for local production of vaccines and drugs.
