Thailand Bans New Gun Permits.

According to officials, the action is intended to make the nation safer and lessen gun violence.

According to a government spokesperson, carrying a gun without a valid reason is a common cause of violent crimes.

The government thinks that halting new permits will help keep the public safe and reduce crime, at least for the time being.

The order became official after it was published in the Royal Gazette. No new gun-carrying licenses will be granted during that year.

What will happen after the ban expires is unclear, though.
