Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass announced the dismissal of Fire Chief Kristin Crowley on Friday due to her management of the wildfires in January, which resulted in over twenty fatalities and the destruction of more than 13,000 buildings.
In her statement, Bass highlighted that Crowley had sent 1,000 firefighters home on the day the fires erupted and had declined to conduct an after-action report regarding the incidents.

“These actions necessitate her removal. The bravery displayed by our firefighters during the Palisades fire and on a daily basis is undeniable. Our city requires new leadership within the fire department,” she stated.
