U.S. Blames Hamas for the Renewed Hostilities in Gaza.

The responsibility for the renewed conflict in Gaza rests entirely with Hamas, and the United States stands firmly with Israel regarding its forthcoming actions, stated the acting U.S. ambassador to the United Nations on Tuesday.

Ambassador Dorothy Shea made these remarks during a United Nations Security Council briefing, following reports from Palestinian health officials indicating that Israeli airstrikes had resulted in over 400 fatalities in Gaza, marking the end of a period of relative tranquility after negotiations for a lasting ceasefire faltered.

“The responsibility for the escalation of hostilities lies exclusively with Hamas,” Shea asserted, accusing the group of rejecting all proposals and deadlines aimed at extending the ceasefire to facilitate discussions for a permanent resolution.

She further noted that U.S. President Donald Trump has emphasized that Hamas must release the hostages it is holding without delay or face severe consequences.

“We support Israel in its forthcoming actions,” she stated, while dismissing claims that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) were engaging in indiscriminate attacks.

“The IDF is targeting Hamas positions,” she explained. “It is widely recognized that Hamas continues to exploit civilian infrastructure for military purposes, and the United States condemns this behavior, as should others.”
