Greenland’s PM Confirmed that the U.S will not Acquire the Island.

Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen stated on Sunday via Facebook that Greenland will not be acquired by the United States, responding to Donald Trump’s remarks about wanting to take control of the expansive Arctic territory.

“President Trump claims that the United States is acquiring Greenland. Let me clarify: that will not happen. We are not owned by anyone. We shape our own destiny,” Nielsen wrote in his post.

On Saturday, Trump told NBC News that he had indeed engaged in serious discussions regarding the annexation of the semi-autonomous Danish territory.

“We’ll get Greenland. Yeah, 100%,” Trump asserted, as reported by NBC.

During a visit to a U.S. military base in northern Greenland on Friday, U.S. Vice President JD Vance criticized Denmark for its inadequate efforts in safeguarding the island and implied that the United States could provide better protection for this strategically important location.
