British Forces Recently Intercepted Russian Aircraft over the Baltic Sea.

On Sunday, Britain announced that its fighter jets had intercepted Russian aircraft over the Baltic Sea near NATO airspace during two separate incidents on Tuesday and Thursday.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Defence, Typhoon fighters were deployed to intercept a Russian Ilyushin Il-20M “Coot-A” intelligence aircraft on Tuesday.

Two days later, another pair of Typhoons intercepted an unidentified aircraft departing from Kaliningrad airspace.

Luke Pollard, the Minister for the Armed Forces, emphasized that as Russian aggression increases and security threats escalate, Britain is committed to reassuring its allies, deterring adversaries, and safeguarding its national security.

“This operation demonstrates our capability to collaborate with NATO’s newest member, Sweden, and to protect the Alliance’s airspace whenever necessary, ensuring our safety at home and strength abroad,” he stated.

There was no immediate response from Russia.
