Every episode of a ‘fantastic’ thriller that has been described as ‘every parent’s worst nightmare’ is now available to stream on ITVX.
The Stolen Girl, which is produced by the same team who made Harlan Coben’s Fool Me Once, left fans ‘on the edge of their seats’ following its release in April last year on Disney Plus.
It stars Denise Gough and Jim Sturgess as couple, Elisa and Fred, whose perfect family life is turned upside down when their daughter goes missing after a sleepover.
One Day’s Ambika Mod, The Capture and Strike’s Holliday Granger and The Suspect star Bronagh Waugh also appear in the riveting thriller.
On X, viewers raved about the series, despite the terrifying subject matter.
@Lasell_83 wrote: ‘Had the honour of screening #TheStolenGirl on @DisneyPlus & let me tell you this show doesn’t waste any time grabbing your attention & keeping you on the edge of your seat from the start. As a mother this show is my worst fear come to life on screen.’
Google users had a similar reaction, with SDC among those saying: ‘At last, a TV series I’ve binged that has an ending! I thoroughly enjoyed this; it had twists and turns galore and was pretty much unpredictable. If these TV companies CAN make stuff like this, why is there so much rubbish on our screens?’
Echoing their sentiment, Emmie Bowen said: ‘Really good show, would definitely recommend, finished in a couple hours, really good and exciting ending.’
Helen McGuire added: ‘Fantastic twists and turns…a well-acted, written drama. Highly worth a watch.’
But The Stolen Girl is not the only thriller that has been added to ITVX in recent weeks.
An ‘addictively compelling’ series that follows a group of teenagers trying to survive in the wilderness after a plane crash is now streaming on the free service.
First hitting our screens in 2021, Yellowjackets follows a group of teenagers in the aftermath of a plane crash in 1996.
Inspired by the Andes flight disaster, the second series is then set 25 years later and focuses on the survivors’ attempts to piece their lives back together.
A synopsis for the series teases: ‘Equal parts survival epic, psychological horror story and coming-of-age drama, Yellowjackets is the saga of a team of wildly talented high school girls’ soccer players who become the (un)lucky survivors of a plane crash deep in the remote northern wilderness.
‘The series chronicles their descent from a complicated but thriving team to savage clans, while also tracking the lives they’ve attempted to piece back together nearly 25 years later, proving that the past is never really past and what began out in the wilderness is far from over.’
