The Coronation Street cast changes are continuing in 2026.
2025 saw Max Turner (Paddy Bever), Yasmeen Metcalfe (Shelley King), Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan), Aadi Alahan (Adam Hussain) and Jenny Connor (Sally-Ann Matthews) all depart the cobbles, though we’ve also seen some notable debuts.
We’ve been introduced to Kevin and Debbie Webster’s (Michael Le Vell and Sue Devaney) estranged brother Carl (Jonathan Howard), as well as Theo Silverton (James Cartwright), who is abusing Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce).
However, there are still plenty more changes ahead as we prepare to say goodbye to some beloved characters, as well as welcoming some familiar faces home.
Here’s the lowdown on who’s leaving and returning…
Coronation Street cast exits
Billy Mayhew
It was confirmed last year that Daniel Brocklebank was leaving Corrie, after playing vicar Billy Mayhew for the past 11 years.
Discussing his departure, Daniel said: ‘I have been working on Corrie for a quarter of my life. I have adored every minute I have been in that building and have never not look forward to going into work.
He added: ‘I love everyone who works on this show and whilst I am sad to be going, I am equally excited to see what the future holds.’
Producer of the show Kate Brooks noted: ‘Billy will be involved in a major storyline over the coming months, which will see him tested in ways he never imagined, as friendships and his faith are pushed to the limit.
‘We’re incredibly sad to bid farewell to Dan, who has been fantastic in some of Corrie’s biggest storylines over the past few years, most notably Paul’s MND.
‘An actor of immeasurable talent and skill, and an absolute treasure behind the scenes – he will be missed by all of us on the cobbles.’

Billy’s final scenes aired at the start of January. He was caught up in the Corriedale drama, and died when Theo trapped him in the minibus, right before it exploded.
When did Billy Mayhew leave Coronation Street? January 5, 2026.
Debbie Webster
Fans were heartbroken when beloved Debbie Webster was diagnosed with young-onset dementia.
Iconic Corrie writer, Jonathan Harvey previously confirmed that Debbie’s dementia will progress over ‘the next few years’.
Actress Sue Devaney also revealed to Lorraine that the story will continue ‘well into 2027’, though the diagnosis will certainly lead to her eventual exit.
When is Debbie leaving Coronation Street? Currently unknown.
Mystery character
Producer Kate Brooks has teased an upcoming flash-forward episode that will see one resident discover a dead body, though viewers won’t know exactly who.
‘There are five potential victims and we’ll take the audience on a journey for them to try and figure out who that body is and what happened, what’s the back-story to it and how did it get to that place, why did that person die,’ she explained.
There are already a number of characters that could be in the running to be the body, with numerous villains currently wreaking havoc on the cobbles.
Carl Webster’s (Jonathan Howard) whole story arc has been the perfect recipe for a whodunnit, with the character having upset pretty much everyone at some point or another.
There’s also Theo Silverton (James Cartwright), who, on top of abusing Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce), recently became a killer when he left Billy to die in the pile-up.
When will the mystery character leave? Though the death will be revealed mid-February, the actual exit will be later in the year.
Lou Michaelis
Lou Michaelis (Farrel Hegarty) has left the ITV soap again following a prison based storyline.
She left the show last year when she was sent to prison for the attack on Gary Windass (Mikey North), and though she has been mentioned on screen, hasn’t been seen since before her sentencing.
Lou was back on our screens shortly after Debbie Webster was imprisoned. Due to Debbie’s dementia, she was told that she’d be assigned an inmate to look out for her, which turned out to be Lou.
The two characters clashed at the start, but eventually became good mates.
Lou’s exit saw her sent to solitary confinement after starting a fight with another inmate. Now Debbie has been released from prison following her appeal, it means she won’t see Lou anymore.
When did Lou leave Coronation Street? At the start of April.

It adds to an ongoing theory that Carl won’t be murdered this month.
