American living in the UK shares five things Brits do better

An American woman has shared five things she believes the UK does better than the US, and in no particular order, included chocolate, public transport and castles on her list. Brianna Morton, 38, has lived in Downham Market, Norfolk, for the last three years, following her husband Thomas’ relocation there due to his role as a tech sergeant in the US Air Force. Brianna and Thomas live with two of her children, Skyy, 14, and Aspen, three. Her elder daughter, Amelie, 22, is studying in Switzerland while her son, Seth, 15, lives in the US with Brianna’s mum, Becky, 65 (Picture: SWNS)
Despite growing up in Kansas, Brianna has stated that she loves the UK and now doesn’t want to leave. Interestingly, one of the reasons she fell in love with British culture was after her first taste of Cadbury’s chocolate. Now, she says she can’t go back to the ‘waxy’ US versions. She said: ‘The food is the biggest difference. It tastes so healthy. It tastes clean. I’d never had Cadbury’s. Hershey’s [an American brand] – it’s waxy. It’s nostalgic but it doesn’t taste good’ (Picture: SWNS)
Other plus points include public transport. Back in the US, Brianna recalled how her town in Kansas only had one train that didn’t run on a proper timetable. As for buses, they were nonexistent. When living in Kansas, Brianna said she would drive everywhere. She said: ‘There might be a passenger train that might come through the town at about 2am. Everyone has cars because everything is super spread out. In the UK I didn’t have a car for the first two years. There are a lot more public transport options in the UK. People here rely on it’ (stock image) (Picture: Luke MacGregor/Bloomberg)

Next up on the American’s list was the NHS. Brianna raved about the healthcare system being better in the UK, as it’s taxpayer-funded. Whereas in the US, she was receiving endless medical bills when her kids would injure themselves. A broken arm once set her back a staggering $30k. ‘I had lots of medical bills. It would take me years to pay them off,’ she recalled (stock image) (Picture: Getty Images)
British history and architecture are another plus point for Brianna. ‘I just love the castles. It’s neat. I go for a picnic with the kids and sit near a castle or a cathedral. Childhood me would be jealous,’ she said. Brianna also loves the fact that travelling around Europe is much easier. However, there are some home comforts that Brianna will always miss — and claims are better than the UK. This includes pancake syrup, air conditioning, housing estate layouts, seasonings and Halloween (Picture: SWNS)
Sporting events are another thing she prefers in her home state, as according to Brianna, American football games have a ‘better atmosphere.’ Brianna said she’s also had to get used to different British accents — as she previously thought everyone spoke with a ‘posh one’ that she’d heard in Hollywood films (Picture: SWNS)
