The BBC appeared to suffer a significant glitch during the Wednesday edition of the News at Six, as viewers were taken behind the scenes to The One Show instead.
The moment is understood to have been broadcast to viewers in Scotland, after the BBC News sting played.
Instead of taking BBC viewers to the latest headlines, the broadcast then bizarrely cut to The One Show an hour before it was scheduled to be broadcast.
In a clip that has been circulating on X, and racked up over 100,000 views at the time of publication, the behind-the-scenes moment saw Clara Amfo and Alex Jones prepping for their weeknight show.
A member of the production team was standing in front of the camera, while another crew member helped Amfo with her yellow jumpsuit.
Amfo and Jones could be heard chatting about upcoming items on the programme, in which actors Dougray Scott and Carmel Laniado and Last One Laughing host Roisin Conaty joined them when it was officially on air.
The co-hosts were also seen posing for social media content to promote the show ahead of its slot.
The live feed then briefly cut back to the news proper, in which an interview was being conducted with a woman who had just received the meningitis vaccine, amid the ongoing outbreak of the infection in Kent.
But the reprise was brief, because the transmission then returned to The One Show goings-ons, not that anyone in the studio was aware they were being broadcast.
Amfo and Jones could be seen practising the pronunciation of words set to feature in the show and also teasing their guests in videos recorded for social media.
Given it was also Jones’s 49th birthday yesterday when she was recording the show, she joked about having a glass of bubbly beforehand.
Although the transmission was a slight faux pas, many viewers at home found it an endearing insight into Jones and Amfo’s personalities.
In the comments on X, Francis Keogh wrote: ‘The fab thing about this is the presenters just seem really nice.’
‘Brilliant!!! And this just proves how lovely Alex Jones is!’ echoed Tam.
Neil MacPherson wrote that he was surprised there hadn’t been an accidental expletive in the broadcast
They added: ‘The News switching in and out between the 16 regional variant programmes is quite difficult as all 16 should finish their opt outs in unity (which is why you often see regional presenters rush to finish or staring at the camera for eternity).’

The One Show airs weeknights at 7pm on BBC One.
