Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz are reportedly planning to adopt a child as the estrangement with his parents, Sir David Beckham and Victoria Beckham, shows no sign of easing.
This latest news means the football star, 50, and his 51-year-old Spice Girl icon wife could face further heartache over the prospect of a future grandchild with whom they have no relationship.
It also comes after their son covered up a tattoo tribute to his father, which is said to have left Sir David ‘heartbroken’.
In last month’s bombshell six-page statement where Brooklyn, 26, confirmed their feud publicly for the first time, he also made multiple references to his ‘future family’ with wife Nicola, 31.
Now friends are saying that the couple, who tied the knot in 2022, have had ‘several conversations’ about adopting a child.
An insider told The Sun: ‘This is a subject Nicola and Brooklyn firmly align on. They both want a brood of children, and for at least one to be adopted.
‘They both know they come from a place of unimagined privilege and therefore strongly want to give back by offering a disadvantaged baby or child the best possible life.
‘They have talked extensively about it.’
The source added that mention of kids and his ‘future family’ and ‘future children’ were ‘two very intentional clauses’ in aspiring chef Brooklyn’s statement too.
It was also suggested that the couple would adopt before having biological children as Lola actress Nicola has cut her weight further down recently for a film role.
Sir David and Victoria were both young parents – aged 23 and 24 respectively – when they welcomed Brooklyn as their first of four kids, and it’s known that Brooklyn has been keen to be a dad too.
He told Variety in August 2022 that he ‘can’t wait’ to be a father.
‘I’m ready to have kids, but I always tell my wife, whenever you want.’
Nicola clarified at the time that while they don’t plan on having children ‘anytime in the next year,’ someday they ‘would love to have a big family.’
The couple has also spoken about adoption too before, as the billionaire heiress also went on to reveal in that interview that ‘we would love to have some of our own, and we would love to adopt.’
She repeated their family plans just a few months later in a separate chat, telling Entertainment Tonight: ‘We really do want a big family. We want to have some of our own kids and then we really want to adopt kids too.’
The Bates Motel star is one of seven siblings and also said that she felt Brooklyn ‘loves being with my family and just being around so many boys. I think he has, like, built-in boy best friends now, so I think he really loves that’.
According to The Sun’s source ‘it would cut [Sir David and Victoria] deep’ not to have a role in any future grandchild’s life as they ‘adore the idea of becoming grandparents’.
Much of Brooklyn’s shock statement focused on his parent’s relationship with the media, hitting out at them having ‘controlled narratives in the press about our family’ and shared ‘performative social media posts’.
He also claimed they had been ‘trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding’ and that Nicola had been ‘consistently disrespected by my family’.
‘I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life,’ Brooklyn wrote.
On Thursday, pictures of Brooklyn showed how he had covered up a tattoo tribute to Sir David, which previously clearly read ‘dad’ in the centre of an anchor on his arm.
Now it’s been covered up by unknown symbols.
Previously, a source told Metro that Sir David is ‘obviously heartbroken’ at this latest snub from his oldest child.
‘David is obviously heartbroken over Brooklyn’s decision to cover up his tribute to him,’ our source shared.
‘It feels like a deep cut, even after everything that was said in his statement.
In his memoir, Sir David said his tattoos were an ‘expression of how he feels about Victoria and the kids,’ and it’s been clear over the years that Brooklyn has used tattoos to express similar sentiments about the people in his life.
He has also previously covered up the tattoo on his chest, reading ‘mama’s boy’ over his heart, which was dedicated to Victoria.
The words have been hidden within a sketch of Nicola’s bouquet from their wedding day, which comes after he vowed to ‘always choose’ his other half.
For now, a source claims David still has all of his tattoos paying tribute to Brooklyn.
Metro has contacted reps for Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz for comment.
