This article contains spoilers for the episode of Coronation Street which airs on Tuesday, January 27. It has not yet aired on TV but is available to watch now on YouTube and ITVX.

Fans have been longing to see Theo Silverton (James Cartwright) face his comeuppance in Coronation Street, and it may happen sooner than we think if today’s scenes are anything to go by.

Theo’s true colours came out months before he killed Billy Mayhew, soon after he began dating Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce).

Things seemed great at first, even despite the hiccups of Theo’s wife and kids. However, it didn’t last, and soon it became clear just how controlling, manipulative and violent he really is.

It’s been difficult to watch as Theo has slowly taken Todd apart with his gaslighting and violence, leaving him a shadow of his former self.

We thought there was hope on the horizon when Billy found out about the abuse Todd had endured, and promised to help him escape.

It all came out at Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) and Ronnie Bailey’s (Vinta Morgan) wedding, when Billy found the footage of Theo berating Todd until he snapped and pushed him.

Theo had been so successful in his manipulation that Todd genuinely believed that he had been at fault in the situation, but Billy helped him to see the truth.

Unfortunately, Billy and Todd’s plan to secretly leave the wedding early was discovered by Theo, who got on the minibus with them.

When the bus was then involved in the Corriedale pile-up, Billy found himself stuck in the driver’s seat. Just as he’d managed to unbuckle his seatbelt and free himself, Theo plugged it back in and left him in the van as it exploded.

Since that fateful night, Todd and Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) have been grieving deeply, while Theo has secretly battled his guilt.

So far, his involvement has gone under the radar, with the residents of Coronation Street pointing the finger at Debbie, who is facing prison for drink driving. The problem? It was actually Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard) behind the wheel.

While their neighbours have been blaming Debbie, Theo has been dripping poison into Todd’s ear, suggesting that everyone thinks he is to blame, as he chose to leave the wedding early.

Tonight, Debbie and Todd discussed this very topic, with both assuring the other that they weren’t the one to blame. Unfortunately, this was interrupted by Theo, who wasn’t happy to see Debbie talking to Todd.

Carl soon got involved in defence of Debbie, and the two men very nearly had a fist fight.

By the end of the episode, it seemed that Carl was the one with the upper hand, having discovered Theo’s killer secret.

You’ll have to watch to find out exactly how Carl gains this knowledge, but it’s safe to say that he is the last person you’d trust with a secret that destructive.

What will Carl do with his newfound knowledge? Will he use it to get Debbie off the hook and finally put his family first for once? Or does he have other plans?
