Bianca Censori’s ‘naked Grammys dress’ might have been upstaged after Chappell Roan turned up to this year’s awards in a topless look that left very little to the imagination.
After Kanye West’s wife caused controversy by stripping down on the music industry’s night of nights in 2025, American singer Chappell hit the red carpet at the 2026 ceremony in a dress that appeared to simply be held up by her nipples.
Overnight, the reigning best new artist winner – who received two nominations this year – arrived in a custom sheer Mugler gown that featured an invisible bodice with maroon fabric hanging down from it.
Being draped down from faux nipples and nipple rings, the dress flowed down into a train behind the 27-year-old and showed off black underwear being worn underneath.
While Bianca was slammed for her daring approach to the red carpet last year, Chappell’s dress has received a generally much warmer response, with people praising her bold statement.
‘No wonder everyone’s talking about Chappell Roan tonight. Her dress is literally hooked onto her nipple piercings. I guess that’s one way to make an entrance,’ user Mario posted on X.
‘We were all young once let her be her. If she likes it more power to her,’ Christina posted on X.
‘People so bothered by a ti**y. Love this, love the art of it, the storytelling, it’s fantastic,’ Sarah wrote.
However, others were less impressed. ‘When does public indecency come into play? Or does it not because they are celebs calling this “fashion”?’ Lindsey commented.
To complete the look, Chappell’s back was also adorned with an intricate fake tattoo, a nod to her medieval-inspired Visions of Damsels & Other Dangerous Things Tour.
Another star to strip down at the Grammys was Justin Bieber, 31, – who left many scratching their heads after taking to the stage just wearing boxers.

Four years after he last performed at the awards ceremony, Justin did a stripped down performance of his song Yukon – being shirtless and wearing his underwear.
During his performance of the emotional track, which the singer had previously revealed was written about his wife Hailey Bieber, the cameras repeatedly cut to her as she smiled proudly and cheered him on.
However, some thought the outfit choice – or lack thereof – was too low effort. ‘Why is Justin Bieber in his boxers on stage what is this?’ Darren questioned on X.
‘Justin Bieber performing in his shorts and dirty gym socks just p***ed me off,’ Aidan declared.
‘I have been a Justin Bieber fan forever. I am very confused by the fact that he is performing in boxers,’ Kristi added. But others pointed out the clever marketing tactic from the singer, who was actually wearing boxers from his own brand Skylrk.
After wrapping up his performance – which didn’t feature any background graphics or stage decor, aside from musical instruments – Justin simply walked off stage.
Going into the Grammys, Justin had received four nominations for his album SWAG, including Album of the Year, Best Pop Solo Performance, Best Pop Vocal Album and Best R&B Performance.
A few hours before hitting the stage, he walked the red carpet with his wife wearing an oversized black suit, with the couple also wearing matching ‘ICE OUT’ pins.
