Despite their raging family feud lasting well over a year now, Cruz Beckham is still hopeful about reconciling with brother Brooklyn.
Yesterday, the budding chef celebrated his 27th birthday in the States with wife Nicola Peltz, 31, and her family.
Noticeably absent were his own parents and siblings, who still sent well wishes his way via loving social media tributes, even though they are no longer speaking.
And while Brooklyn has not commented publicly on the Beckham camp feud since his shocking statement broke the internet in January, where he accused David and Victoria of ‘controlling’ him, it appears his siblings haven’t fully closed the door on him.
Stepping out in Paris, France, with his girlfriend, Jackie Apostel, 30, youngest brother, Cruz, 21, was in high spirits.
‘Any well wishes to your brother? It’s his birthday,’ the videographer from TMZ asked, to which he replied, ‘Happy birthday,’ with a smile.
The musician, who is currently on tour with his band, put his head down when probed on whether he’s spoken to Brooklyn lately, but had an optimistic response when the reporter quizzed: ‘Any chance you guys will repair the relationship? Are you hopeful for that?’
‘Hopefully,’ Cruz said back.
The exchange was fleeting, ending with Cruz wishing her a ‘lovely day’ before heading off for more sightseeing with fellow musician Jackie, whom he’s dated for around two years.
Cruz was the last family member to reach out online on Brooklyn’s special day, but still made a declaration of love for his big brother.
Alongside a sweet childhood snap of Brooklyn holding him as a baby, he wrote simply, ‘i love you,’ with a party popper emoji.
Earlier in the day, dad David, 50, and mum Victoria, 51, also shared some throwback pictures, with the football legend posting, ‘Happy Birthday Bust,’ which is Brooklyn’s childhood nickname that David has tattooed on him.
‘Happy Brooklyn, we love you so much,’ added the fashion designer in her olive branch with a pic from an old family holiday.
Brooklyn did not publicly react to his parents’ messages; however, a source has claimed that they didn’t have the desired effect.
An insider told ET that he did not appreciate their ‘performative’ posts, having already hit out at such, as well as so-called ‘inauthentic relationships,’ in his previous statement.
‘Brooklyn and Nicola are disheartened they chose to make public Instagram posts for his birthday,’ the source shared.
‘These are the exact type of performative public actions that Brooklyn has been trying to put an end to, to no avail.
‘Last summer, they issued a legal letter to his parents requesting that any correspondence go through lawyers.’
At the start of the year, Brooklyn claimed that his family ‘values public promotion and endorsements above all else’ and that ‘Brand Beckham comes first.’
‘Family “love” is decided by how much you post on social media, or how quickly you drop everything to show up and pose for a family photo op even if it’s at the expense of our professional obligations,’ he vented on his Instagram Story, where he also claimed they had ‘disrespected’ his wife.
Brooklyn is showing no signs of moving to make amends with his fellow Beckhams, as his loyalties clearly lie with Nicola, whom he vowed to ‘always protect’ in his Valentine’s Day post last month.
The Lola actress showered him with affection on his 27th, decorating their home with balloons and gifting him a box of personalised doughnuts.
She wrote alongside a video of him blowing out his candles: ‘happy birthday baby 🎂 i hope all your dreams and wishes come true! you light up every room you walk into and anyone who knows you loves you 🥹 you’re the most special human and i love being your wife. i love you i love you i love you’.
‘My baby girl xxx’, husband of almost four years Brooklyn commented underneath.
In a second post, Nicola offered a glimpse inside Brooklyn’s bday bash, both of them dressed in complementary black outfits for a raucous night with pals.
Nicola’s caption read: ‘last night was so special 💖 thank you to everyone who came and made it so perfect. we all love you so much brooklyn!’
It was said that David and Victoria were ‘disappointed’ to miss Brooklyn’s birthday, with a source telling Metro they weren’t even ‘in contact’ with him.
They added: ‘It feels so different to how they usually celebrate together as a family. They love doing big family dinners with all of the kids and showering them with love, not to mention the childhood photos and tributes they share on Instagram.’
While both Posh and Becks did, of course, reach out to Brooklyn on a public scale, they were reportedly ‘reluctant’ to do so, which was ‘devastating’ for them to deal with.
‘Brooklyn made his feelings clear in his statement, and it feels like it’s best to leave any thoughts of a reunion up to him for now.’
