David Harbour and Jason Bateman’s new erotic thriller has been labelled one of the ‘unsexiest’ pieces of television ever made.

The Stranger Things and Ozark stars have combined forces in a bizarre tale about a tragic love triangle that ends up with one of them dead in DTF St Louis.

Created by Steven Conrad, the HBO limited series combines sex, murder and betrayal between Clark (Bateman), Floyd (Harbour) and his wife Carol (Linda Cardellini).

However, reacting to the series online, the show has been labelled with the rather unfortunate (or fortunate, depending on your preference) label of being incredibly ‘unsexy’.

Reviewing the series, Alison Herman from Variety wrote: ‘It is both an ineffective sales pitch and generally accurate to call DTF St. Louis the unsexiest erotic thriller ever made.’

Also writing on X, Neve said: ‘I have watched five mins of DTF St Louis and I must say it is already GREAT.’

Giving his thoughts on the first episode, which has aired on Sky Atlantic today, Mark added: ‘DTF St. Louis pilot is sooo good.’

Meanwhile, Evie claimed the show was ‘Emmy worthy’, arguing: ‘Jason Bateman does some amazing physical comedy on DTF St Louis. Both on the weirdest bike you’ve ever seen and on a swing set.’

The series sees Clark tell Floyd about a dating app named DTF St. Louis at a family-get together.

The app connects married couples who are interested in ‘spicing up’ their lives.

After both men confess that their marital sex lives are not going well, Floyd agrees to meet Clark to set up their profiles on the app.

Harbour’s appearance in the series alongside Bateman, who is known for his roles as Michael Bluth in Arrested Development and Marty Byrde in Ozark, comes after he was replaced from a film to ‘rest’.

The forthcoming drama film Behemouth! from Tony Gilroy and Searchlight Pictures is currently still in development, but the Stranger Things star will no longer be making an appearance.

Last month, it was confirmed that Harbour’s former wife Lily Allen has a boyfriend.

The West End girl hitmaker, 40, split from Harbour, 50, in late 2024 following endless speculation about the state of their marriage.

DTF St. Louis is available to watch on Sky Atlantic and NOW.
