Donald Trump has called for Iran’s ‘unconditional surrender’ so that bombing will stop, and pledged to ‘Make Iran Great Again.’
The US president issued a fresh order to Iran’s military and security forces today after almost a week of airstrikes started by the American and Israeli joint operation.
In a ranting post on Truth Social, Trump warned that there will be ‘no deal with Iran except UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER’.
He also seems to want to rebrand his MAGA slogan to MIGA – Make Iran Great Again.
Trump wrote: ‘IRAN WILL HAVE A GREAT FUTURE. “MAKE IRAN GREAT AGAIN (MIGA!)”‘
The 79-year-old said he wanted Iran to have a selection of ‘great and acceptable leader(s).’
‘After that…we, and many of our wonderful and very brave allies and partners, will work tirelessly to bring Iran back from the brink of destruction, making it economically bigger, better, and stronger than ever before,’ the president wrote in a post.
The latest escalation in the conflict is showing no sign of ending, with both sides adding fuel to the flames and launching more missiles.
Yesterday, Trump said the Iranian fighting forces should lay down their arms or face ‘guaranteed death.’
He said: ‘I’m once again calling on all members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, the military and the police to lay down their arms.
‘You’ll be perfectly safe with total immunity or you’ll face absolutely guaranteed death, and I don’t want to see that.’
The US military said it has sunk 17 vessels, including an aircraft carrier.
Meanwhile, Iran has been targeted with airstrikes today, including in Tehran, Qom and Shiraz, where US-Israel joint attacks reportedly killed 20 people.
Iran has responded with airstrikes targeting the Gulf region, with explosions reported in Dubai today along with intercepted missiles across Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain.
It has also launched attacks on Kurdish opposition groups within Iraq’s Kurdistan, Iran’s state TV reports.
Iran’s newly selected Ayatollah, who replaced the cleric Ali Khamenei killed on Saturday, called for ‘the shedding of Zionist blood, the shedding of Trump’s blood.’
The Middle East conflict has virtually halted all oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz, stranding hundreds of vessels and seafarers in the Gulf of Persia.
The closure of the key route by Iran has seen crude oil prices reach $90 per barrel, up around 24% on last Saturday since the first attacks against Iran.
