EastEnders’ Peter Beale (Thomas Law) believes he has the mother of all surprises for fiancée Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) by arranging an impromptu wedding – but it’s nothing compared to another shock in store for her.
Peter revealed his plan to spring the nuptials on Lauren to his family earlier this week, and forthcoming scenes see them put the final plans in place to make the dream a reality.
What no one realises, however, is that Lauren’s dad Max Branning (Jake Wood) is poised to make his long-awaited comeback in the middle of the couple’s special day.
Of course, fans saw Max earlier this month, when it was revealed he’d had a romantic entanglement with Zoe Slater (Michelle Ryan) in his time away from Walford.
But after four years, Max bursts back onto the Square to give daughter Lauren the shock of her life.

The wedding drama all kicks off on Monday, when Peter’s plans are almost derailed by Lauren’s refusal to go on a spa day he’s arranged as a decoy so he can put the finishing touches to the wedding.
Although unaware of the wedding plans, Lauren’s cousin Penny Branning (Kitty Castledine) also gives her reason to cast doubt on her relationship with some ill-timed comments.
However, when Lauren and Penny later head to The Vic to meet Peter ‘for a drink’, they’re stunned to find the boozer set for a wedding and Peter on bended knee.
An overwhelmed Lauren reluctantly agrees to go through with the ceremony and heads over to No.25 to get ready, where Penny senses all is not well.
Back at The Vic, Lauren and Peter stand in front of one another as their friends and family watch on – but it remains to be seen if she will say ‘I do’ or not.
What we can tell you though, is that Max unexpectedly rocks up amid the drama, setting the stage for some more explosive scenes as he’s reunited with Lauren, Zoe, ex-lover Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) and estranged son Oscar Branning (Pierre Moullier)…
