The following article contains spoilers from the episode of Emmerdale dated March 30. It hasn’t aired on ITV1 yet, but can be viewed on ITVX.

Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) suspects that Kim Tate (Claire King) has been poisoned by mushrooms in Emmerdale – and it’s very possible he is wrong.

Kim headed down to Wishing Well today because Lydia Dingle (Karen Blick) had decided to cook a family dinner.

After all of the fighting between the Tates and the Dingles recently, Lydia believed sitting round the table and actually behaving like adults would allow them all to build bridges.

While Lydia got to work chopping up the mushrooms foraged by Sam Dingle (James Hooton), Chas and Cain Dingle (Lucy Pargeter and Jeff Hordley) couldn’t resist making a few jibes about how they’d like to see the back of Kim.

The two guests who arrived just before Kim were Caleb (William Ash) and Ruby Miligan (Beth Cordingly), who both had bottles of wine in their hands.

Up at Home Farm, Kim was getting ready, speaking to Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough) and Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham) about how she thinks dinner with the Dingles is a good idea, and doesn’t believe anything bad will happen to her because Lydia will be present.

Things got off to a rocky start with Kim and the family but eventually, it seemed as though they were starting to find common ground.

After dessert, however, Kim suddenly started struggling to breathe. As she coughed and spluttered, the Dingles realised something was seriously wrong. Kim collapsed seconds later and was rushed into hospital.

Resident doctor Jacob was on hand to help Kim, and eventually told the likes of Lydia, Gabby and Graham that Kim’s symptoms line up with mushroom poisoning. It was a puzzling conclusion though, as everyone else ate the same mushrooms and were absolutely fine.

Curious, Graham started to suspect that someone had specifically switched Kim’s mushrooms for poisonous ones.

But is this really the case?

If you watch closely in the episode, Kim is the only person drinking red wine – everyone else is either drinking white or something else.

Was Kim spiked by Caleb, or was it the mushrooms?

The bottle was brought in by Caleb – who would absolutely jump at an easy chance to get rid of Kim.

His previous plan to destroy her failed, but Caleb has even more reason to want to see the back of her now that he knows Lydia is going to inherit Home Farm.

To further fuel this theory, when Liam asked Caleb for some red wine, he encouraged him to drink the white instead, saying that it tastes better.

Has Kim been spiked by Caleb?
