The rail corridor’s timetable shows that of the 17 trains scheduled from London St Pancras to Paris today, six have been delayed.

Of the 18 going from Paris to London, five have been cancelled and six have been pushed back.

Some continental routes, including Brussels-Amsterdam and Brussels-Paris, are also seeing disruptions.

London-Amsterdam and London-Brussels are unaffected.

Eurostar has warned travellers during the height of the summer travel season to postpone their journeys if possible.

It said: ‘Due to part of the track being temporarily closed on the French network, severe disruptions including cancellations are expected all day to and from Paris.’

The outage has had knock-on effects across France’s rail network, with TGV InOui and Ouigo trains running up to three hours late.

SNCF Voyageurs told the French newspaper Le Figaro: ‘Trains are currently being diverted via bypass routes via the conventional lines.

‘Journey times are expected to be extended by 30 minutes to one hour 30 minutes.’
