Former Hollyoaks star Emmett J Scanlan has been inundated with support after announcing the death of ‘brother’ George.
The actor, who is 47, is best known for his role as Brendan Brady in the Channel 4 soap.
This week, the star took to his Instagram page to share the heartbreaking news of George’s death.
Alongside some wonderful pictures of George and Emmett that highlight just how close they were, the actor wrote: ‘Fly free brother Georgy, you gorgeous sublime angel… I’ll miss the f****** bones of ye…’.
Emmett’s wife Claire Cooper, who has also featured in Hollyoaks, wrote her own tribute message within the comments and said: ‘Fly high, dear George. Like we talked about, the veil is so thin…closer than we think. Call on us sometime and let us know how you’re doing.’
She added: ‘Until then, rest easy dear one and enjoy that healing pool that awaits you. Thank you for being so dear to my husband and me. You will always be loved.’
Among the famous faces sharing their condolences was Dermot O’Leary, who wrote: ‘Sending love buddy x’.
Presenter Gaby Roslin said: ‘Sending love I am so sorry’.
Fellow Hollyoaks star Lucy-Jo Hudson added: ‘Ah so sorry for your loss’, while Jamie Lomas simply commented: ‘Sorry for your loss’.
Emmett and Claire married in 2015 and have two children together – son Ocean, and daughter Fiáin.
Emmett originally appeared in Hollyoaks from 2010 to 2013, while Claire joined the cast in 2006 before also leaving in 2013.

Since Emmett’s departure from Hollyoaks, the star has gone on to appear in a number of popular dramas including The Tower, Fool Me Once and Unforgotten.
He will soon return to his role as Paul, the Head of Security in Paramount+’s MobLand, which features Tom Hardy and Dame Helen Mirren.
