A humanoid robot walking alongside the First Lady isn’t something you see every day.
Yesterday, Melania Trump walked beside a humanoid robot while hosting the ‘Fostering the Future Together’ summit in the White House.
The global summit, held in the East Room of the White House, was focused on artificial intelligence education and safety.
The robot, named ‘Figure 3’, introduced itself and said: ‘Thank you, first lady, Melania Trump, for inviting me to the White House.
‘I am grateful to be part of this historic movement to empower children with technology and education.’
The dystopian moment was captured on camera and shared around the world as Figure 3 strutted on a red carpet alongside Melania.
The robot, made by AI robotics company Figure, then delivered remarks in 11 different languages before walking back down the hall.
Melania noted the historic guest in her remarks: ‘Figure 3, it’s fair to state: you are my first American-made humanoid guest in the White House.
‘The future of AI is personified. It will be formed in the shape of humans. Very soon, artificial intelligence will move from our mobile phones to humanoids that deliver utility.’
Melania then skipped the panel discussion on artificial intelligence and the networking event, after stressing the importance of the safety of AI.
Also at the event were Sara Netanyahu, the wife of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and the first lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska.
Melania’s programme, ‘Fostering the Future Together’, describes itself as an initiative to make advanced technology available to countries around the world.
