‘I died for 6 minutes but a robed figure in the afterlife sent me back with a message’

The question of life after death is one every human considers as we come to terms with our own mortality. A few people claim to be able to provide an insight into what awaits us, having crossed the threshold between life and death, only to return with an experience to share. John had something known as a near death experience (NDE), which can occur after someone goes through a traumatic event such as a cardiac arrest, being in a coma or being hit by a car. People are often pronounced clinically dead for a certain amount of time before being brought back to life. In this case, with John, he was considered dead for six minutes. According to experts, the hallmarks of an NDE include people seeing their life flash before their eyes, having out-of-body experiences, or entering meditative states. (Picture: Getty)

On a visit to his parents’ house, John decided to ride one of their mopeds and, after turning a corner quickly, he swerved to avoid a squirrel in the road and crashed into a tree, he told YouTube channel Shaman Oaks. This lead to him needing the tendons in his right hand to be surgically reattached to the bone and during the surgery he had a reaction to the anesthesia. (Picture: Next Level Soul Podcast/YouTube)
He explains that when the anesthesia reached his heart, it stopped. And this is where claims his new experience began. He said: ‘The very second that I shut my eyes, and died, I opened up my eyes and I was standing in the most beautiful, perfect marble building that I could ever imagine.’ He says that the building had ornate doorways and the rooms featuring marble tables, as well as tunnels. John continued: ‘During this whole process, there was somebody who was standing next to me, who was talking to me in my left ear. I never saw this person but throughout my whole near death experience there was this guy telling me what I was seeing, who I was looking at. He told me [the building] was an orientation centre.’ John said that during this experience he was totally engrossed in what he was seeing and had forgotten about the surgery. (Picture: John J Davis)

When John looked down one of the tunnels, he said : ‘I could see stars, and I could see planets and I could see galaxies. It was an absolutely magical experience. That is a tunnel that people come through when they die. My guide then said “Look up to your left and look at the next doorway.”’ In there, John said he saw a man die of a heart attack, but he saw a woman who was standing in front of the doorway welcome him in. John claims she stepped towards the man, held his hand and as they began to chat, the man’s appearance began to change. He was becoming younger and younger. Then John says he was led over to a garden, continuing: ‘I know people have described gardens on the other side, that they’re absolutely beautiful but they are so hard to describe how beautiful they really are. The gardens were almost like they were alive. What happened to this man, when he walked into the garden, there were people there, and they were there to greet him from coming back from his life. They were hugging him, kissing him, telling him what a great job he has done and now he’s back home.’ John said that the orientation was for people who have lived a long life and forgotten where they came from. John claims he was then led to another building where people plan their lives before they live them, meaning they aren’t just random but have a particular purpose. He said: ‘There were two scrolls, and one had a blue ribbon on it and the other had a red ribbon on it, and I didn’t know what they were at first. My guides say these are your scrolls that you write the major points of your lifetime on. Everybody writes down what their parents are going to be like, where they will go to school, are they going to go to college, what’s their career going to be, are they going to have a lot of money or are they going to have a little bit of money…all of that is prepared ahead of time on the scrolls.’ (Picture: Next Level Soul Podcast/YouTube)
John said he was then led to a meadow where he saw animals running down the hills as his guide told him that any animal that anybody has ever loved is on the other side. John continued: ‘As I was standing there, I could see two of my dogs and I could see two of my cats running down the hill. And all the animals play together until their loved ones from Earth cross to the other side and come back to get them.’ (Picture: Getty)

He added: ‘It was such a feeling of unbelievable love that they play with each other and they are happy.’ John said that his guide took him to meet a man who was so bright he could not see his face – all he could see was that he was wearing a robe with a red sash around the waist. John claims: ‘He lifted up his hands and said “You must tell them that there is no death.” But the very second he said that I woke up back in the hospital with doctors looking down at me.’ John says that although he was dead for six minutes, he felt like the experience lasted two hours.
