You spend more time with your coworkers than pretty much anyone else in your life.
It’s perhaps no surprise then, that affairs in the workplace happen all the time, with a Forbes survey finding that 40% of participants admitted to cheating on their current partner with a colleague.
Starting to feel suspicious of your partner’s ‘work wife’? Wondering if there’s been a cheeky snog in the stairwell or a fondle by the printer?
Private detective Paul Evans, has investigated thousands of cheating cases, and he says there are some professions that are more likely to cheat than others.
Check out Paul’s definitive list of the top five careers that are most likely to cross that line…
5. IT Professionals
You might be under the impression that a person who picked a career that keeps them permanently chained to a desk is not the type to launch themselves into a sordid love affair. Well, think again.
‘We’ve dealt with more cases in the IT sector than we would expect to,’ Paul reveals.
In actuality, these workers are likely to have some tricks up their sleeve when it comes to covering up their digital footprint — coupled with an awfully good excuse for their hefty screen time (e.g. texting another woman).

Paul explained: ‘With these workers having constant access to technology and social media, it becomes easier for them to hide secret conversations they don’t want people to know about.’
4. Sales reps
Next on the list is the sales industry. Climbing the corporate ladder, securing a deal at the last second — there’s so much adrenaline in the room, someone’s clothes are bound to come off.
And private investigator Paul, from I-Spy Detectives, agrees.
‘Sales reps are persuasive by nature, which can help them manipulate others if they have to,’ he notes.
‘We’ve had cases where we have followed reps around the country to find out they were cheating with work colleagues and sometimes randomers at the hotel bar.’
3. Flight attendants
The third group of workers who cheat the most are flight attendants. And before you say it, it’s got nothing to do with joining the mile high club.
Throughout his many investigations Paul has witnessed a trend within this industry: ‘The distance, freedom and glamorous settings can increase temptation, especially when you are far away from your partner — boundaries can quickly fade.’
One particular case stands out to the private detective.
‘We investigated a married flight attendant who frequently worked long-haul. She started to become distant, and when we looked into it, she had been meeting a pilot from another airline during her stopovers. They had been booking into the same hotels for months,’ Paul shared.
Private investigator reveals trick cheaters use to have affairs
Ever wondered how cheaters get away with it? Private detective Paul Evans let Metro in on the devious trick cheaters are using right now to avoid detection, and it’s fair to say that technology is not our friend…
Some cheaters are using shared calendars to hide their affairs: ‘On the surface, it looks like a harmless dentist appointment or a work meeting, but when you dig deeper, those calendar entries are often a cover for something else,’ says Paul.
‘We’ve uncovered cases where the same slot is used every week, always in a different location, and never with a trace of genuine work behind it.’
Often, cheaters come up with secret codes with their lover, using terms like ‘team lunch’ or ‘client call’ to try and hide any funny business.
2. Call centre workers
Employees at a call centre tend to work in extremely close quarters and for extended periods of time. Meaning closeness to your colleagues becomes second-nature.
‘Call centre workers are under pressure every day, and it’s only natural to form bonds with the people around you.
‘Unfortunately for some, these friendships often cross the line when you are spending long hours side by side,’ Paul shared.
1. Medical professionals
If you’ve ever watched an episode of Grey’s Anatomy this is going to come as no shock to you.
After Paul’s year-long investigation, his final conclusion is that ‘the number one profession for cheaters that we deal with is those in the medical field.’
Given that medics came in first place, you’d hope Paul would have a juicy story to share — well, you’re in luck.
‘In one of our cases, we discovered that a nurse was having an affair with a doctor during their night shifts, meeting in a spare room in the hospital while their partners believed that they were working,’ he said.
Doctors can spend anywhere up to 60 hours every week in the hospital they work at. Plus, jobs in the medical field are highly stressful and anxiety-inducing.
Add that onto all the financial stress they’re going through right now and Paul’s discovery starts to make a whole lot more sense.
You might trust them with your life, but would you trust them with your partner?
